Super Bowl: Seattle’s Nick Emmanwori’s remarkable rebound. He’s all good

Nick Emmanwori is alive. And relatively well.

That’s huge news for Seattle’s defense and thus the Seahawks for Super Bowl 60 Sunday against the New England Patriots.

Emmanwori was full go in practice Friday at San Jose State University, two days after he turned his right ankle defending a pass late in the Wednesday practice. The lower nature of this ankle injury, rather than the high-ankle sprain with ligament damage up his right leg that sidelined the ultra-important rookie safety/linebacker/defensive end for three games in September, allowed Emmanwori to recover quickly.

So quickly, the finalist for the NFL defensive rookie of the year is not on the injury report, no designation, for Super Bowl 60 Sunday. He was full go in practice Friday, full go to play the Patriots Sunday.

“No designation for Nick,” coach Mike Macdonald told the NFL pool reporter Kalyn Kahle at San Jose State following practice Friday.

“Turns out he’s alive.”

Quarterback Sam Darnold: Also full go. The Pro Bowl quarterback practiced fully for the second consecutive day. Those are his first two full participations in practice since Jan. 15. That was the day he injured his left oblique on his non-throwing side. He played two days later in the divisional round, beating San Francisco. He also barely threw the following week in practice before Darnold and the Seahawks beat the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC championship game Jan. 25.

The week off between the conference-title game and Super Bowl have done wonders for Darnold for Sunday’s NFL championship.

“Feel really good,” Darnold said, all this week.

The only Seahawks with an injury designation for the Super Bowl is Robbie Ouzts. The rookie fullback’s neck issue that kept him out of the NFC title game has him questionable for Sunday against the Patriots.
