Kid Rock to headline Turning Point USA’s alternative Super Bowl LX show
Conservative organization Turning Point USA announced the lineup for its Super Bowl LX alternative halftime show.
The “All American Halftime Show,” put on by the organization founded by the late Charlie Kirk, was announced days after the NFL named Grammy Award-winner Bad Bunny as the official Super Bowl halftime show headliner.
On Tuesday, Turning Point shared the show would feature country artists Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett.
Why is there an alternate Super Bowl halftime?
The conservative group announced its counterprogramming to the Super Bowl LX halftime show about a week and a half after Bad Bunny was selected as the official show’s headliner on Sept. 28.
“The All-American Halftime Show is an opportunity for all Americans to enjoy a halftime show with no agenda other than to celebrate faith, family, and freedom,” a Turning Point USA spokesperson said in a statement.
Bad Bunny, whose name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, was born in Puerto Rico and has U.S. citizenship from the territory. Bay Area natives Green Day are set to perform at the Super Bowl LX opening ceremony on Sunday.
Super Bowl LX is not the first time the halftime show is headlined by a Spanish-speaking artist. Singers Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez have been marquee acts at the biggest game of the year in the past. Bad Bunny performed as Shakira and Lopez’s guest at Super Bowl LIV in 2020.
Going as far back as 1979, the Super Bowl has featured non-American artists.
For Super Bowl XIII, bands hailing from Caribbean nations performed at halftime, according to CBS Sports. Since then, non-Americans have performed at 12 other Super Bowl halftime shows.
Who is playing the Turning Point USA halftime show?
Kid Rock is well known for his support of President Donald Trump since his first term in office. The artist performed at a victory rally ahead of Trump’s second inauguration in January 2025 and at a 2017 concert, he forcefully spoke out against former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick following the player’s decision to kneel during the national anthem at games.
Brantley Gilbert is a country-rock artist from Georgia. His latest single, released in October, is titled “Real American.”
Gabby Barrett, of Pennsylvania, gained fame as a third-place finisher on American Idol in 2018.
Singer and songwriter Lee Brice, from South Carolina, has been writing songs since 2007.
Turning Point USA plans to stream its show, presented as a counter to the official Super Bowl halftime show, on its social media channels and on partnering conservative websites and channels.
