The Squalicum boys’ soccer team watched its season end after a 1-0 loss to Anacortes in an elimination game in the Class 2A Northwest District Tournament on Thursday, May 12, at Sedro-Woolley.
Owen Davis-Bower had five saves in goal for the Storm – two that coach Joe McAuliffe said were crucial – but Anacortes got the one it needed in the 55th minute.
McAuliffe said despite a lull in the season his team, which loses nine seniors to graduation, finished strong.
“We had good leadership from the seniors and we saw some (underclassmen) step up and become really important to us,” McAuliffe said in a phone interview. “I’m thankful to work with these kids. It was a good season and they had a lot of success.”
