Lynden Christian thought it had a playoff win wrapped up in the final seconds of regulation only to have the game tied and headed to overtime.
Just before the final regulation whistle, Bush’s Emon Stein played a ball in just above the 18-yard line and tied the game up at two. After overtime, the game headed to a shootout in which Bush outscored the Lyncs 3-2 to win a Class 2A Northwest District Tournament elimination game 3-2 on Tuesday, May 10, at Sedro-Woolley High School.
Coach Brent De Ruyter said his team had chances during the game but couldn’t take advantage of them.
“You get into kicks and who knows from there,” De Ruyter said. “It was a fun game with lots of opportunities. We just didn’t quite finish.”
