Storm goalie keeps Bellingham at bay

With the match heading to a shootout, coach Joe McAuliffe subbed in Cole Herdman to give Squalicum a lightning-fast goalie to save penalty kicks.

Herdman saved the first and second shots and watched as his teammates put in four in a row to seal a 1-0 Class 2A Northwest District Tournament win on Tuesday, May 10, at Civic Stadium.

“He’s a solid keeper all around,” McAuliffe said. “He decides really well and quickly.”

Ale Tomasi put the first penalty kick in and was followed by Tyler Hughes, Eli Guidroz and Roman Beltran who had the game-winner.
