Ferndale’s season came to an end as the Golden Eagles lost 2-0 against Mountlake Terrace in a Class 3A Northwest District Tournament match on Tuesday, May 10, at Lummi High School.
Despite having 10 shots on goal in the first half, Ferndale couldn’t take advantage of its chances as balls ricocheted off the crossbar and side posts.
The match was scoreless entering the second half but in the 56th minute Mountlake Terrace’s Gavin Scott scored on a corner kick from Bobby Stoyanov. In the 73rd minute, Stoyanov took a pass from Scott and placed a ball into the goal to go up 2-0.
“Sometimes it’s not in the cards,” coach Rigel Weis said. “We had a golden opportunity to do something today but it didn’t go our way.”
