Sehome’s Mason Rathkamp placed a shot into the goal’s far corner from 22 yards out late in the first half to help the Mariners earn a 1-0 nonleague win over Squalicum on Friday, March 18, in Bellingham.
“It was a really lovely shot,” Sehome coach John Sylvester said. “He curled it into the far corner. It was unstoppable.”
Sehome goalkeepers Max Diehl and Devin Trueb combined for the shutout.
“It was really close and felt much like a preseason game,” Sylvester said. “Both teams were kind of sluggish, especially in the second half. Both teams in general were searching to find a rhythm.”
