Steilacoom finished third in the 2A South Puget Sound League with an 8-6 record. The Sentinels then had to win two straight elimination games to grab the No. 4 seed out of the West Central District. They ended up topping Renton 5-3 and White River 2-1. Tori Crawford and Taylar LaRue each scored a goal in the win over White River. Fife was the only team headed to state this year that Steilacoom played during the regular season, and the Sentinels found themselves on the short end of a 6-1 score on Oct. 6 and a 6-0 score on Oct. 29 in their two meetings.

Scouting the Storm
State appearances: Five
Record in state playoffs: 9-5
Last state appearance: 2014 (won state title)
Leading scorers: Kim Dorr (27 goals, 16 assists), Kim Hazlett (29 goals, 10 assists), Payton Fowler (10 goals, 8 assists)
Squalicum is making its fourth straight state appearances, and has made it to at least the state semifinals the past three years. After running through the Northwest Conference regular season without a blemish, the Storm cruised to the district title with wins over Bellingham (4-0), Burlington-Edison (3-0) and Shorecrest (2-1). Kim Door and Payton Fowler scored the goals in the Storm’s win in the district championship game, but Squalicum has plenty of firepower with eight players with multiple goals this season. Add in an active midfield and a defense that has allowed just four goals this season, and the Storm will be a tough out.
