Storm completes unbeaten regular season with 2-0 win at Lynden
Squalicum girls’ soccer won 2-0 against Lynden on Monday, Oct. 26, at Bender Fields.
“The girls battled the whole game and to come away with only two goals down against a team like Squalicum is something to be proud of,” Lynden coach Carlos Melendez said in a phone interview.
The game was tied 0-0 at halftime and it wasn’t until the middle of the second half that Kim Dorr and Kim Hazlett were able to slip away from Lynden’s defenders to score on Emily Holt. Cassidee Barclay was attached to Hazlett throughout the game, chasing her around the field, Melendez said. She finally broke through and took a shot, catching the side netting, to finalize the score at 2-0.
Squalicum will host Bellingham for the first round of 2A District 1 playoffs at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Civic Stadium.
