Sehome girls’ soccer postseason hopes ended with a 3-0 loss to Squalicum on Thursday, Oct. 22, at Whatcom Community College.
“The game was good. I thought we fought hard,” Sehome coach Andria Fountain said in a phone interview. “They had to earn the goals they got against us.”
Fountain pointed out that at the beginning of the season Squalicum won 6-0 and Sehome has made vast improvements in their defense since then.
The last time that Sehome girls’ soccer missed the district playoffs was in 2000. The Mariners have one more regular-season game against Anacortes at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, at Civic Stadium. Squalicum, leading the Northwest Conference, will likely play Granite Falls on Saturday, Oct. 31, in a home game to begin playoffs.
