Bellingham girls’ soccer wins 8-0

Bellingham girls’ soccer won 8-0 over Mount Baker on Thursday, Oct. 22, at Northwest Fields.

“It’s an important game for us to kind of stay alive in the playoff hunt here and I felt the girls responded really well,” Bellingham coach Mark Wright said in a phone interview.

Morgan Jones scored three of Bellingham’s goals. Brooke Baker scored twice and Kayla Heidenreich, Kylie Mitchell and Alice Hiebert also scored. Even with the high number of goals coming from an active offense, it is the defense that Wright said worked the field to block the Mounties.

Bellingham has the inside track for a postseason spot. Mount Baker is currently slated for Northwest Conference’s No. 3 seed and at this point they would play Sultan on the road Monday, Oct. 26.
