Lynden Christian girls’ soccer wins 9-0

Lynden Christian girls’ soccer won 9-0 over Nooksack Valley on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Nooksack Elementary.

“To have two sophomores each get two goals, McKenzie (Clark) and Bailee (Den Bleyker), is a real shot in the arm for our offense,” Lynden Christian coach Brent De Ruyter said in a phone interview. “It gives them a lot of confidence going into the post season.”

This win moves Lynden Christian into second place in the 1A Northwest Conference standings. The Lyncs offense has made a strong comeback since the six-game scoreless streak that ended last week against Sedro-Woolley.

“Bailee had a great game, two goals and two assists, her best output of the year as a sophomore,” De Ruyter said.

Libby Hielkema, and Madi Hallberg, center defenders, played strong defensive games and scored toward the end in an impressive push forward, he said.

Lynden Christian hosts Sehome at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Nooksack Valley plays at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, at Blaine.
