Lynden wins 3-0 over Bellingham
Sierra Smith scored two goals for Lynden girls’ soccer in their 3-0 win over Bellingham on Thursday, Oct. 15, at Bender Fields.
Jasmyne Neria also scored a goal. Erin Fiebig and Cassidee Barclay did a wonderful job containing Bellingham’s forwards and helping Emily Holt earn the shutout, Lynden Coach Carlos Melendez said in a phone interview.
“Bellingham’s Peyton Schwinger, their center forward, I had to man mark her the whole game,” Melendez said. “She does everything you want a center forward to do and tried to keep the ball away from her as much as possible.”
Both teams play again on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Lynden goes up against Burlington-Edison at 6 p.m. and Bellingham plays at Sedro-Woolley at 7:30 p.m.
