Mount Baker wins 2-0 over Nooksack Valley

Mount Baker girls’ soccer team’s defensive strategy held until the end when their offense stepped up the attack for a 2-0 win over Nooksack Valley on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

“The second half we really focused on the offense, playing the ball wide,” Mount Baker coach Jason Jorgensen said in a phone interview. “We were really focusing on the goal and kept the ball in their half for most of the second.”

Taylor VanBrocklin and Hailey Madera scored the two goals for Mount Baker. Emily Brandland made 11 saves to earn the shutout game.

Both teams play again on Thursday, Oct. 15. Nooksack Valley hosts Sedro-Woolley at 6 p.m. and Mount Baker will play Anacortes at 4:30 p.m. at Mount Baker High School.
