Quesada has hat trick in Blaine girls’ soccer victory over Mount Baker

Ashley Quesada had a hat trick as the Blaine girls’ soccer team earned a 3-0 Northwest Conference victory over Mount Baker on Thursday, Oct. 8, at Pipeline Fields.

Caitlyn Sharp had two assists, Makayah Veliz had one and Tessa Kelly had five saves in goal for the Borderites.

Emily Brandland had eight saves for the Mountaineers.

Blaine coach Kelly Tuski said her team is playing through injuries and playing well at this point of the season.

“It’s where we want them at this point,” Tuski said in a phone interview. “They are just pushing through and working hard for us. Everyone is just stepping up their game and that’s what we want.”

Both teams play next at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, when Mount Baker hosts Nooksack Valley and Blaine hosts Sehome at Pipeline Fields.

Goal: Ashley Quesada (Blaine), Assist: Makayah Veliz, time 11; Goal: Ashley Quesada (Blaine), Assist: Caitlyn Sharp, time 32; Goal: Ashley Quesada (Blaine), Assist: Caitlyn Sharp, time 72. Goalies (saves) — Mount Baker: Emily Brandland (8); Blaine: Tessa Kelly (5). Shots on goal — Mount Baker 6, Blaine 15.
