Hazlett hat trick leads Storm to 7-0 win over Blaine

Squalicum standout forward Kim Hazlett logged a hat trick, and fellow forward Kim Dorr scored twice to help lead the Storm to a 7-0 Northwest Conference win over Blaine on Thursday, Sept. 24, at Northwest Soccer Park.

Four of Squalicum’s goals came in a 14-minute span, as the Storm (8-0, 4-0 NWC) outshot the Borderites 25-2.

“We controlled the ball really well and did a nice job winning balls and controlling it so the forwards could finish,” Storm coach David Kish said in a phone interview.

Payton Fowler and Braeden Hilleary added a goal apiece, and Kendra Steele was credited with two assists.

Kish praised Blaine’s Ashley Quesada for her impressive defensive work.

Squalicum faces Mount Baker next at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, while Blaine takes on Meridian at the same time and date.
