Ferndale girls’ soccer wins 1-0 against Lynden Christian
Ferndale girls’ soccer won 1-0 against Lynden Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 22, in a match Ferndale coach Joe Gonzalez called a “nail-biter.”
“Our backline today was wonderful,” Gonzalez said in a phone interview. “Elsa Ericson got player of the game for our team. She just did a great job and Jazzy Ahrens on the left side did a wonderful job. There were so many great girls on the team today making a phenomenal effort.”
Kayla Downs, a senior at Ferndale, made the single goal on an assist by sophomore Maddie Smith.
Ferndale plays against Bellingham at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, at Civic Stadium. Lynden Christian will host Lynden at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
