Lynden girls’ soccer cruises to 6-0 win

The Lynden prep girls’ soccer team got some girls who may not get a lot of play time throughout the season involved in a 6-0 Northwest Conference win over Nooksack Valley on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Bender Fields.

Thalia Veliz scored and got an assist, Elisa Kooiman tallied two goals and then the Lynden regulars got on the board, as Peyton Fullner scored and Erin Fiebig put two in the net.

“We got some other girls into the mix,” Lynden coach Carlos Melendez said in a phone interview. “We worked on a couple things, knocking the ball around, getting into space and getting game fit as well.”

Lynden will face Blaine Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Bender Fields. Nooksack Valley returns home to face Bellingham Tuesday.
