Meridian wins 2-1 in defensive game against Sedro-Woolley

Meridian girls’ soccer won 2-1 against Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Sept. 15 in a game that tested the defensive strength of both teams.

“Centerback Emily Stuth had an outstanding game,” Meridian coach Terry Tigert said in a phone interview. “I don’t think I had ever seen her play that position as well as she played it tonight. She killed it.”

Tigert began coaching Meridian girls’ soccer last season and changed up the field positions, a choice proving to be for the best. Micaela Pimento has scored a goal every single game, two tonight, in her first year as a forward, Tigert said.

Meridian hosts Lynden Christian at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17.
