Bellingham’s prep girls’ soccer team got a wake-up call for the second straight game, falling to Class 2A state runner-ups Shorecrest 5-0 on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Civic Stadium.
“I think the last two nights have been pretty shocking for us,” Bellingham coach Mark Wright said in a phone interview. “I thought we had pretty good preparation for the season but the scheduling gods have been really tough on us. We played the state champion and then the runner-up. So our message to the girls after the game were that Tuesday counts. Hopefully you have your legs under you and you’re ready to go fight for your standing in the league.
The Red Raiders get Sehome on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Civic.
