Sehome wins 2-1 against Ferndale in their first face off of the season

Sehome won 2-1 against Ferndale on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Ferndale High School.

“I thought Sehome knocked the ball around well today,” Ferndale coach Joe Gonzalez said in a phone interview. “They seemed to be pretty organized.”

Ava McIlvaine and Mia Zucchi scored for the Mariners and Jillian Monson had the lone goal for the Golden Eagles.

Sehome owned the ball from the beginning and had a dominant lead until the end. Ferndale came together for a final push and scored their single goal with three minutes left on the clock.

Both teams play again on Sept.12. Ferndale hosts Oak Harbor at noon at Ferndale High School. Sehome plays Squalicum at Northwest Soccer Fields beginning at 4 p.m.
