Lyncs fall in season opener
Lynden Christian girls’ soccer opened its season with a 1-0 loss to Cascade Christian on Saturday, Sept. 5, in Sumner.
The Lyncs faced a deficit the entire game as Cascade scored in the eighth minute, but Karibeth Engelsma made five saves on the day to keep it close.
“It was a growing up time today,” LC coach Brent De Ruyter said in a phone interview. “It was probably one of the most physical first matches I’ve ever been a part of. The kids were forced to grow up really fast.”
LC returns to its home field on Tuesday, Sept. 8, to take on Nooksack Valley.
