Football state championship games to stay at Tacoma Dome
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Executive Board voted during its meeting Sunday and Monday, Jan. 24-25, to keep the high school football state championship games at the Tacoma Dome.
During the previous board meeting, the Executive Board voted to move its westside semifinal games from the state’s largest dome facility and play them at regional sites, similar to the format for the eastside semifinals.
The new agreement with the Tacoma Dome runs through the fall of 2018.
“The Tacoma Dome is synonymous with State Football and the Board felt it was important to continue that legacy and tradition,” WIAA Executive Director Mike Colbrese said in a WIAA release.
