Get your Black Friday shopping done early, put off the nap and instead head to Tacoma.
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association released the schedule for this weekend’s football state semifinals, and Lummi — the only Whatcom County team to survive the quarterfinals — drew the early slot.
The Blackhawks will face Neah Bay at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at the Tacoma Dome.
It will mark the fourth-straight year the Northwest 1B League rivals have met in the semifinal round. Unfortunately, the first three were won by the Red Devils.
In fact, Neah Bay has ended Lummi’s season in the state playoffs the past four years, and the two teams meet in the state playoffs for the seventh straight year.
The Blackhawks (9-2) cruised through the first two rounds by a combined 90-0 score beating fifth-ranked Evergreen Lutheran 50-0 in the first round and Quilcene 40-0 on Saturday, Nov. 21, in the quarterfinals.
No. 2 Neah Bay (10-0) has been just as dominant its trip to the semifinals, beating Clallam Bay 68-0 in the first round and Seattle Lutheran 62-12 on Friday, Nov. 20.
Top-ranked Liberty Christian (12-0) and No. 3 Almira Coulee-Hartline (11-1) meet in the other semifinal at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Pasco’s Edgar Brown Stadium.
