Scouting report: Lummi’s Hank Hoskins accounted for four touchdowns, the Blackhawks piled up 572 yards of total offense and grabbed a 56-8 1B District Playoff win to earn their 12th straight trip to the state playoffs. Trazil Lane caught two passes for 95 yards, including a 60-yard TD reception and ran for a 22-yard score. Hoskins finished with 211 yards on eight carries, and Free Borsey ran for a 12-yard touchdown run. The Blackhawks had a slower start to their season than usual, dropping two of their first six games. Lummi lost to Entiat 40-24 and fell to rival Neah Bay 62-12. Standout athletes Hoskins and Lane have returned to the Blackhawks’ lineup in recent weeks and have given the team a major boost.

Player to watch: Hoskins has been terrific in his return to the football field and is a force running the ball or playing middle linebacker.

Eagles update

State appearances: None

State record: None

State titles: None

Scouting report: Evergreen Lutheran earned a 52-8 win over Rainier Christian two weeks ago to earn its spot in the Class 1B State Playoffs. The win kept the Eagles’ perfect season in tack. Evergreen Lutheran led only 8-0 after the first quarter but reeled off 22 in the second to take a 30-0 halftime edge. Running back Jake Lawrence, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound senior, leads the Eagles in rushing with 1,951 yards and 15 touchdowns on 129 carries. Jeffrey Parker leads the Eagles’ passing attack. He’s completed 20 of 47 passes for 518 yards and has thrown 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. Ryan Lorette leads the team in receiving with 11 receptions for 359 yards and six TDs.

Player to watch: Lummi will need to key heavily on Lawrence. He is a game-breaker and has accounted for plenty of touchdowns this year for the Eagles.

Key to the game: Evergreen Lutheran has won by at least 20 points in every game its played. If Lummi can score quickly and hang around, they can advance.

Prediction: Evergreen Lutheran 42-34
