Storm, Mountaineers, Trojans to play first-round games Saturday

Forget Friday Night Lights — Whatcom County plays on Saturday.

Squalicum, Mount Baker and Meridian all will play their games first round state playoff games on Saturday, Nov. 14, according to nwcathletics.com.

The Storm will host Chehalis W.F. West at 6 p.m. at Civic Stadium in their Class 2A playoff game, while Trojans and Mountaineers will have to travel for their Class 1A openers. Mount Baker’s game at Kalama is also set for 6 p.m., while Meridian’s game against Hoquiam will be played at Stewart Field in Aberdeen. The time for that game has not yet been released.

Lummi’s Class 1B game against Evergreen Lutheran will be the only Friday night game involving a Whatcom County team, as the Blackhawks are scheduled for a 6 p.m. kickoff at Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma.
