Ferndale (5-3, 4-2 NWC) at Sedro-Woolley (6-2, 4-2 NWC)

Time: 7 p.m.

Site: Sedro-Woolley High School

Golden Eagles update: Austin Honeycutt ran for 137 yards and three touchdowns as Ferndale raced out to a 35-0 halftime lead and earned a 42-7 NWC home win against Sehome. James Hinson threw for 162 yards, and 125 went to Jackson King, who caught touchdown passes of 78 and 4 yards. The Golden Eagles’ defense held the Mariners to 189 total yards.

Cubs update: Sedro-Woolley racked up 417 rush yards, and kicker Adrian Vasquez converted a game-winning 20-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Cubs to a dramatic 32-29 NWC road win last week against Lynden in a rematch of last year’s state title game. Carter Crosby ran for 177 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries, and Quinn Carpenter ran for 108 yards and three touchdowns.

Key to the game: Two strong running teams face off in what should be a physical battle. The Golden Eagles’ ability to slow down Sedro-Woolley’s run game most likely will determine the outcome.

Player to watch: Senior linebacker Taylor Bellefeuille will need a big game in what will be an important matchup for Ferndale’s postseason positioning.

Prediction: Ferndale 24-21

Lummi (5-2) at Tulalip Heritage (3-4)

Time: 7 p.m.

Site: Marysville-Pilchuck High School

Blackhawks update: Lummi reeled off 60 straight points and was never threatened during a 60-8 non-league blowout win over Darrington last week. The Blackhawks scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and added 34 in the second quarter to take a 48-0 halftime lead.

Hawks update: Robert Miles Jr. finished with 318 total yards (152 rush, 166 rec) and scored four touchdowns to lead Tulalip Heritage to a 66-53 win over Clallam Bay last week. Willie Enick threw for 116 yards and a touchdown and ran for 92 yards and two touchdowns.

Key to the game: Lummi seemed to get its offense back on track last week after struggling against Neah Bay. Tulalip Heritage has some weapons in Miles Jr. and Enick, so if the Blackhawks can contain them and keep their offensive momentum going, the Blackhawks should come away with the road win.

Player to watch: Look for QB Jonathan Casimir to lead his team into hostile territory and make some big plays.

Prediction: Lummi 52-40
