Sehome’s Patrick studies criminal justice

Tanner Patrick is a senior middle linebacker and running back for Sehome High School’s football team. However, he has been taking classes at Whatcom Community College since the end of his sophomore year through Running Start. He is working toward one day becoming a police officer, Patrick has lived in Bellingham his entire life and loves the outdoors, whether he is swimming, fishing or hunting.

Question: What is your favorite part of playing with the Sehome football team?

Answer: I like to work together with my teammates, we all fight hard together every Friday night. ... I’ve played with most of these guys all my life. I’ve been playing football since I was six years old.

Q: What are your plans for after high school?

A: Right now I’m doing Running Start at Whatcom Community College and I am studying criminal justice. I want to become a police officer. ... Because growing up I have always had an interest in criminal justice. Playing cops and robbers as a kid, you grow up looking up to police officers, so sophomore year I decided to start studying criminal justice up at the college.

Q: What is your favorite memory playing football?

A: Junior year against Cascade Christian, it was our first game and I scored my first varsity touchdown.

Q: What other activities do you enjoy?

A: I like to go fishing, hunting; I used to play baseball for a little bit. I used to wrestle.

Q: Where are your favorite places to fish and hunt?

A: I’ll go over to Eastern Washington for hunting, and the Nooksack River for fishing.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Bellingham?

A: I like to go to Lake Whatcom and go swimming or boating, sometimes my dad, me and my brother will go fishing out there too.

A: My favorite quote is from Ray Lewis, it is “If tomorrow wasn’t promised, what would you give for today?"
