Lynden receiver Noah King took the opening kick off for a touchdown against conference foe Anacortes, helping spark the Lions to a 52-20 victory on Friday, Sept. 25.
“Noah set the tone for the game… from there, everyone knew it (the game) was ours,” receiver Jordan Wittenberg said.
King took the ball 94 yards in just 13 seconds, leading to an impressive offensive display by the Lions.
Anacortes responded well after King’s return, as quarterback Camden McLaughlin methodically drove the Seahawks down the field, leading to a 9-yard toss to receiver Griffin Overa.

King immediately answered with a 9-yard touchdown catch of his own thrown by quarterback Sterling Somers.
“We just tried to show them who we are, and we mean business,” King said.
Somers was nearly flawless, completing 13 of his 15 passes for 181 yards and four touchdowns.
“My receivers ran great routes; I’m blessed to throw to them,” Somers said.
His other touchdown passes went to receivers Rylan Severson and Wittenberg, who caught two.
Fumble recoveries on consecutive drives by Lynden led to 10 easy points to close out the first half, and arguably the game, as the Lions grabbed a 45-13 advantage.
This game marked a huge bounce back win for the Lions, as they hope to carry momentum into next week’s matchup at Sehome.
“This is a new beginning… a new season starter,” Wittenberg said.
