Don’t look now, but the Sehome football team has started another streak. After ending a 23-game losing skid six days earlier, the Mariners won their second straight Friday, beating Granite Falls 46-28 at Civic Stadium.
“You can’t underestimate how big it was for us to break up that long losing streak,” Sehome coach Kevin Beason said. “You could tell it was totally different out there. ... We were playing with emotion, passion, physicality and we executed well.”
Beason said the team was particularly effective running the ball, as Dylan Roberts and Michael Mindnich generated a potent 1-2 punch, especially with Mindnich bringing a different element to the Mariners by running read options and quarterback keepers. Roberts and Mindnich each ran for three touchdowns, and Mindnich connected with Melloy Nelson on another.
The Mariners (2-6) will look to stretch the win streak to three straight Friday when they travel to Shoreline Stadium to face Shorewood.
