In going for the tie, Bellingham ended up with the win

Trailing by a touchdown to 2A Northwest Conference rival Blaine with four minutes left in the game, the host Bellingham football team marched to the end zone and scored on Nick Knutson’s pass to Ethan Fields.

Fields then set up to hold the ball on the extra-point attempt that would tie the game. A high snap forced Fields to tuck the ball and make a mad dash for the end zone, and he managed to cross the goal line, which put Bellingham up 36-35 with 1:30 left in the game.

The Red Raiders (2-2, 1-1 2A NWC) forced a Blaine (0-4, 0-2) turnover on the final play and hung on to win.

“I’m super proud of how hard our players worked,” Bellingham coach Ted Flint said.

Nick Knutson passed for over 300 yards and Spencer Lee had an “awesome” night hauling in those passes, Flint said. Bellingham came back from being down twice and took its first lead of the game on Fields’ extra-point scramble in the must-win game.
