No trap game here; Semu’s big runs keep Ferndale on track at South Kitsap

Cole Semu rattled off three touchdowns and multiple runs of at least 80 yards, as the visiting Golden Eagles earned a non-league win over South Kitsap 55-21 on Friday.

Coming off a thrilling 19-16 comeback win against county rival Lynden last week, Ferndale looked in command in its third and final game of pre-league play.

Golden Eagles coach Jamie Plenkovich said it was a combination of good offensive line work and Semu making guys miss in the second level that was so effective.

On the defensive side, Plenkovich said his team played pretty well, but had areas it needs to clean up.

“There were a couple of times where we gave them good field position and had too many penalties on defense,” Plenkovich said.

Ferndale will need to address those issues heading into its first league game against 3-0 Arlington Friday.
