Squalicum senior running back/defensive back Triston Smith has been selected a Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Athlete of the Week.

Smith rushed for a 445 yards and six touchdowns – both school records – in the Storm’s wild 85-70 victory over South Delta, B.C., Friday at Civic Stadium. After two weeks, Smith leads Whatcom County with 745 yards and eight touchdowns on 56 attempts (13.3 average per carry).

“Honestly, I’m just glad we got the W,” Smith said after Friday’s game. “Proud of the O-line, proud of my teammates, quarterback, defense. I think we pulled through.”
