Sehome senior Leighton Kingma has committed to play basketball at Whitman College, according to an email from Mariners athletic director Colin Cushman.

Kingma, a 6-foot-6 wing, tied for fifth in the Northwest Conference in scoring last season with his 17.4 points per game. He was selected second-team All-NWC by the league’s coaches.

He heads to a Whitman program that finished second in the Northwest Conference with a 24-5 overall record (14-2 NWC) last season and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament before falling to eventual national champion St. Thomas of Minnesota.
