Ferndale’s season ends with loss to Stanwood
Ferndale’s season ended with a 80-67 loss at Stanwood in an elimination game of the Class 3A Northwest District Boys’ Basketball Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 18.
Down 12 points at halftime, the Golden Eagles managed to get within five points of Stanwood in the second half, but couldn’t pull closer.
Austin Honeycutt and John Weg led Ferndale with 16 points each and Sky Freeman followed with 11. Garett Holmes and Riley Hunt each added eight points.
“I told the seniors thank you for leaving a legacy of never quitting,” Ferndale coach Jason Owens said in a phone interview. “I’m looking forward to next year.”
