Lummi advances to tri-district tournament

Lummi got off to a fast start and with the help of Trazil Lane’s 33 points earned a 67-54 Class 1B Tri-District Tournament Play-in Game win over Crosspoint on Thursday, Feb. 11, in Bremerton.

The Blackhawks raced out to a 38-22 halftime lead and then held on during the second half in a loser-out game.

“I thought we came out ready to play,” Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. “Defensively, we had a great start, which is what we asked from them.”

Free Borsey and Caleb Revey each scored 10 points, and Mike Washington chipped in eight.

The win advances Lummi to the 1B Tri-District Tournament where it will face No. 1 seed Seattle Lutheran at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, on the road.
