Mountaineers avoid elimination with win over South Whidbey

The Mount Baker girls’ basketball team used a 29-11 second quarter to roll past South Whidbey for a 67-47 victory on Thursday, Feb. 11, in Class 1A Northwest District Tournament elimination game at Mount Baker.

Emily Brandland led the Mountaineers with 22 points, Danielle Tyler added 17 points and Kylind Powell added 10 points.

The Mountaineers, who improved to 17-6 on the season, advance to play Nooksack Valley at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Mount Vernon in a third-place game.
