Boys’ basketball roundup: Storm’s strong third quarter earns a win
Squalicum boys’ basketball won 75-63 over Sedro-Woolley in a Northwest Conference game Friday, Jan. 29.
Seven points ahead at halftime, the Storm confirmed its lead in the third quarter with 18 points from Darious Powell, who also earned three 3-point field goals.
“Sedro-Woolley came out and played really hard in the first half and defended us really well.” Squalicum coach Dave Dickson said in a phone interview. “It was close at half time and then in the third quarter we came out and had a really good quarter.”
Josiah Westbrook earned 16 points for Squalicum and Creighton Kaui scored nine points in a steady game, Dickson said.
Davis Mihelich led with 16 points for Sedro-Woolley.

Anacotes 69, Nooksack Valley 57: Connor Beard led with 15 points and David Flores followed with 11 for Nooksack Valley in its loss to Anacortes. The Pioneers committed only 11 turnovers in their effort to defend against the Seahawks.
Burlington-Edison 60, Sehome 58: Marcus Montag led Sehome with 22 points in its loss to Burlington. Leighton Kingma added 14 points. Sehome came back from a 10-point gap to tie in the final seconds, but one more shot gave the Tigers a win.
