Girls’ basketball roundup: Storm surges in second half for win

Squalicum girls’ basketball won 59-54 over Sedro-Woolley in a Northwest Conference game on Jan. 28, at home.

Behind 10 points at halftime, the Storm took full advantage in the second half to score 38 points and move ahead of the Cubs.

Chalae Wolters led with 31 points for Squalicum. Des’ree Henry followed with eight points.

Mikayela Nutting led with 15 points for Sedro-Woolley.

Next, Squalicum hosts Mount Baker at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Burlington-Edison 62, Sehome 33: Madison Ulrich led Sehome with 12 points in its loss to Burlington-Edison. Sarah Eissess added six points and Maddy Hooker had five points. Edie Breckenridge led with 14 points for the Tigers.

Anacortes 52, Nooksack Valley 34: Emilia Gimmaka scored 13 points for Nooksack Valley and Brianna Turner added six in a loss to Anacortes. Brooke Geffe led Anacortes with 13 points and Alex Aldridge led added 11 points.

Providence Classical Christian 40, Lummi 18: The Blackhawks dropped their third game in as many nights, as they were outscored 16-0 in the second quarter. Jenyha Ell and Chantel Martin each had five points for Lummi, which was mathematically eliminated from postseason contention on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
