Lynden’s Somers selected WIBCA Player of the Week

Lynden High School senior Sterling Somers was selected the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week on Monday, Jan. 25.

Somers scored 39 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in a 74-65 win over Class 1A No. 4 Mount Baker on Tuesday, Jan. 19, before following that up with a 26-point, nine-rebound performance on Thursday, Jan. 21, in a 71-68 win over 1A No. 1 Lynden Christian.

Somers has scored 20 or more points eight times in 15 games this season, including the last four straight, and is averaging 19.9 points per game.

He and the Lions will play at Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
