BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Lions earn NWC win on the road

Sterling Somers had 26 points and eight rebounds and four assists and the Lynden boys’ basketball team earned a 65-49 Northwest Conference victory Thursday, Jan. 14, at Sedro-Woolley.

Christian Zamora added 11 points for the Lions, including three 3-pointers.

Lynden coach Brian Roper said it took awhile for the game to get into a flow with a 7-6 advantage for the Lions in the first quarter.

“It felt that early we got the shots we wanted and there seemed to be one of those rebounding lids on the basket for a while,” Roper said in a phone interview. “We created a few turnovers and got out and ran the floor ... and got good production from guys off our bench.”
