GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Nooksack Valley snaps two-game skid with win over Sedro-Woolley
Nine different Pioneers scored points, and Nooksack Valley snapped a two-game losing skid with a 52-39 Northwest Conference road win over Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
Katrina Gimmaka scored a team-high 13 points to go with seven rebounds, Arlissa Oetell had eight points and seven rebounds and Jasmin Zavala and Brianna Turner each scored six points.
Nooksack Valley built a 32-23 halftime lead and played strong defense and hit foul shots down the stretch.
“I thought we came out and started the game well, shot the ball really well in the first half,” Nooksack Valley coach Shane Wichers said. “We got some great production off the bench.”
Zavala, Emilia Gimmaka, Cassidy Zylstra and Rachel Sande were among Nooksack Valley’s key substitutes.

Squalicum 40, Meridian 33: Chalae Wolters had 13 points and Josie Andert added 12 points as the Storm earned a Northwest Conference victory at home over Meridian. Kyrin Baklund led the Trojans with 14 points.
Anacortes 55, Bellingham 25: Paige Jacobsen and Autumn Jacobsen had five points each and Suzie Bennett, Eliza Rossman and Emily Benson had four rebounds each but the Red Raiders dropped a Northwest Conference game to Anacortes at home. Kylie Clark had three assists for Bellingham. Maddy Hance had 15 points to lead the Seahawks.
