BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Blaine wins in overtime
Blaine boys’ basketball team won 72-68 over Sedro-Woolley in overtime on Thursday, Jan. 7, during a Northwest Conference game.
“It was a heck of a battle; it was a one-point game,” Blaine coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview. “At halftime we had a one-point lead, we had a one-point lead again at the end of third quarter and then we went into overtime.”
Shaq Woods scored 22 points for Blaine and Jalen Kortlever scored 19 points, including two 3-point field goals.
Pile commended his defense for their “phenomenal energy” throughout the game.
Blaine plays again at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11, at Lynden High School.

Ferndale 69, Nooksack Valley 58: Connor Beard earned 18 points for Nooksack Valley and Noah Rawls followed closely with 17 points and three 3-point field goals. Austin Honeycutt earned 21 points for Ferndale and 14 rebounds.
