GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Golden Eagles win at home
Ferndale girls’ basketball won 56-43 over Nooksack Valley on Thursday, Jan. 7, during a home conference game.
Ferndale was able to maintain their early lead despite a tired fourth quarter, Ferndale coach Mike Ivy said in a phone interview.
Gabrielle Edison led Ferndale with 17 points, Nicole Guessford followed with 16 and Darrien Camarillo earned 15.
Rachel Sande led with 11 points for Nooksack Valley.
Ferndale goes up against Mount Baker at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11. Nooksack Valley plays again on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Sedro-Wooley.
Other results
Sedro-Woolley 49, Blaine 42: Makayah Veliz earned 14 points for Blaine and two 3-point field goals. Josie Deming followed with 10 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
We haven’t figured out a way to finish the games, but at least we are in the games now. That’s a positive.

Sehome (4-7, 1-2 NWC) faces a tall task when it plays host to Class 1A top-ranked Lynden Christian (10-1, 3-0 NWC) at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at Sehome High School. The Mariners will to be looking to win their third straight after snapping a six-game losing skid.
