GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Sehome earns tourney win
The Sehome girls’ basketball team earned a 50-41 victory over Cascade Christian on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Cloud 9 Sports Lynden Christmas Classic at Lynden Christian High School.
Taryn Clark had eight points and 10 rebounds, Natalie Zender added nine points and Sarah Eissess scored six for the Mariners.
“We came out with a lot of energy,” Sehome coach Kim Kirk said of the 12-5 first-quarter advantage. “Tonight was a really nice job of playing a four-quarter game.”
The Mariners are off until Wednesday, Jan. 6, when they host Meridian at 7:15 p.m.

Bellevue Christian 38, Blaine 17: The Borderites took the loss at the Cloud 9 Sports Lynden Christmas Classic at Lynden Christian. Ashley Dickerson and Kjirstin Larson had six points each and Josie Deming pulled in five rebounds to lead the Borderites.
Meridian 63, Granite Falls 30: Kyrin Baklund had 15 points, Ellesse FitzGerald added 13, Natalie Swanson had 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and Kiana Gray had 10 points and six rebounds in Meridian’s win over Granite Falls at the Meridian Holiday Tournament.
Nat Swanson had one of her best games ... hit some shots and played good defense.

Lynden Christian continues its string of playing against larger schools when it travels to play Class 4A Snohomish at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2. All nine of LC’s games so far have been against Class 2A or higher schools.
