GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Stingy defense propels Lynden past Everett

Lynden leaned on its defense and held Everett to seven points between the second and third quarter to earn a 54-25 nonleague win Friday, Dec. 18, at Lynden High School.

“We challegned our kids to defend the right way, and I thought by far this was our most consistent effort on that end of the floor this season,” Lynden coach Rob Adams said.

Elisa Kooiman led the Lions with 18 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Sierra Smith had nine points and Lauren Zwiers scored eight.

Lynden led Everett 13-10 after the first quarter but outscored the Seagulls 36-7 during the second and third.

The Lions (5-1, 1-0 NWC) extended their win streak three games with the victory.
