GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Borderites earn road win over Storm

Ashley Dickerson had 17 points, Josie Deming added 15 points, including four 3-pointers, and eight rebounds and the Blaine girls’ basketball team picked up its first victory of the season with a 54-49 win Monday, Dec. 14, at Squalicum.

Squalicum had the lead in the fourth quarter by being active on defense and forcing turnovers but Storm coach Vic Wolffis said his team just wore down late.

“They really packed in their defense really well and we just couldn’t knock down shots,” Wolffis said in a phone interview.

Chalae Wolters had 19 points for Squalicum and Sarah Hulbert added 14 points.

Lynden Christian 61, Bellingham 31: Avery Dykstra had 12 points and eight rebounds and Kara Bajema added 10 points and six assists and the Lyncs improved to 4-0 on the season with a win Monday, Dec. 14, at Bellingham. Emily Benson had nine points for the Red Raiders.
