GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Lynden Lions fall 45-25 at home court

The Lynden girls’ basketball lost to Anacortes 45-25 on Monday, Dec. 7, at home in a game that began fairly even but Anacortes had established a strong lead by halftime.

“Anacortes came out right from the get-go and played like a state-caliber type of team,” Lynden coach Rob Adams said. “They came out right away and established themselves on the defensive and offensive sides. They did a tremendous job of playing with relentless passion that we just did not match.”

Maddy Hance and Brooke Geffe led Anacortes with 10 points each. Elisa Kooiman led Lynden with eight points and Lauren Zwiers had six points.

Oak Harbor 48, Squalicum 40: Chalae Wolters had 16 points, including two 3-pointers, and eight rebounds in Squalicum’s loss Monday, Dec. 7, at Oak Harbor. Sarah Hulbert had eight points for the Storm and Josie Andert added 6 points.

Nooksack Valley 56, Bellingham 20: Nooksack Valley dominated both offensively and defensively in their win over Bellingham on Monday, Dec. 7. Katrina Gimmaka scored 12 points and Emilia Gimmaka scored 11.

Sehome 34, Marysville-Pilchuck 31: Sarah Eissess had four points and 14 rebounds to lead the Sehome girls’ basketball team to a 34-31 non-conference victory Monday, Dec. 7, at Marysville-Pilchuck. Alex Payne had six points and Emma Clark and Samantha Hruby had five points each.
