GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Brandland leads Mount Baker past Port Townsend
Emily Brandland scored a career-high 34 points for one half of her double-double and led Mount Baker to a 74-16 non-league road win over Port Townsend on Saturday, Dec. 5.
Brandland recorded a team-high 10 rebounds to go with her 34 points. Sam Jacoby had two points and nine boards, and Haylee Malone and Danielle Tyler scored nine points apiece.
“We came out ready to play, and the girls were taking a team-first approach,” Mountaineers coach Kim Preston said in a phone interview. “We had been waiting for (Brandland) to break out, and she just had a great game.”
Mount Baker led 43-9 at halftime and didn’t allow a fourth-quarter point.

La Conner 45, Squalicum 34: Squalicum lost to La Conner 45-34 in a nonconference game. No other information was reported.
Up next
For a young squad like Sehome, early wins are a must to build confidence for the conference season. Marysville-Pilchuck, which the Mariners topped 60-48 last season, will give Sehome a great chance at another early-season victory on Monday.
