BOYS’ BASKETBALL: Moore, Young lead Meridian to home win to open season

The Meridian boys’ basketball team opened the season on a high note, beating Coupeville 51-41 in non-conference action Monday, Nov. 30, at Meridian.

Brady Moore had 16 points, Dan Young added 13 for the Trojans and Dan Campfield pitched in with nine points.

Meridian coach Shane Stacy said the swing in the game was the 22-5 Trojans advantage in the third quarter.

“I thought we did a better job of getting the ball inside in the third quarter. Derek Campfield had eight points right away in that quarter,” Stacy said in a phone interview. “I thought we started to calm down and communicate better and find cutters.”
